INGREDIENTS
2 Salmon Fillets (about 6-8 ounces each)
2 tablespoons Olive Oil
2 teaspoons Horn of Africa spice blend
¾ teaspoon Kosher Salt (or adjust to taste)
COOKING INSTRUCTIONS
- Adjust your oven racks to the middle position. (This is ideal for most foods since it allows the hot air to circulate around the salmon fillets, resulting in even cooking.)
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (about 200°C).
- Prepare seasoning: In a small bowl, combine the Horn of Africa blend and kosher salt. Mix well and then set aside.
- Prepare the baking pan: Line a baking pan with foil or parchment paper to make cleaning up easier.
- Prepare the Salmon: Rinse the salmon fillets under cold running water and pat them dry with paper towels.
- Place the salmon fillets on the prepared baking pan and drizzle the olive oil evenly over the salmon fillets. Make sure to coat them thoroughly, you may use your hands or a pastry bush for this process.
- Season the Salmon: Sprinkle the powder mixture evenly over the skin side first. Turn the filet over and then season the other side.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 10-15 minutes. The exact cooking time depends on the thickness of your salmon fillets. Salmon is done when it flakes easily with a fork and is opaque in the center. You can also check the internal temperature with a meat thermometer; it should read 145°F (63°C).
- Serve: Carefully remove the salmon from the oven. Transfer the salmon fillets to serving plates.
